AJL Preschool prides itself on a highly trained and nurturing faculty

  • All teachers hold a college degree; most with a Master’s Degree as well
  • We maintain at least a 1:4 / teacher:student ratio

Patty Lewis – Founder & Head of School

Patty serves as both Head of School and Head Teacher. She has a Master’s in Education and 6 years of teaching experience. Patty is licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Head Teacher. She first taught at Greens Farms Academy and then worked in the Office of Admission for seven years, giving educational assessments to 4 year olds applying for Kindergarten.

Julie Mombello – Director & Head Teacher

Julie oversees all operations of the Preschool. She holds a Professional Educator’s Certificate for Pre K-6 and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She is also licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Head Teacher for Child Day Care Centers for Birth to 5 and School-Age Children. Prior to her work at the AJLP, Julie taught at Christ and Holy Trinity Preschool and then worked at Greens Farms Academy as both a first grade teacher and Lower School Assistant Director of Admissions.

Doreen Davis – Teacher

Doreen has been a Head Teacher in a Preschool Classroom for the last three years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and she is a Certified Teacher in the State of Connecticut. Additionally, she is licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Head Teacher for Children Birth through 5 and School-Age Children.

Saba Pina – Teacher

Saba has been teaching in the classroom setting for 3 years. She helped us open the AJLP in December of 2013 and has never looked back. She has a Masters Degree in Education with a focus in Counseling Psychology, and has over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Mental Health Clinician. She recently received her Child Development Associate Credential at Norwalk Community College.

Jennifer Bargas – Teacher

Jennifer is new to AJLP in the 2017-2018 school year. She has eleven years of teaching experience in a variety of classroom settings, five of which were split between PreK and K classrooms. Jennifer has Master of Science Degree in Elementary Special Education from Bank Street College. She is looking forward to being a part of our dynamic community.

Schuyler Kemeny – Director of Development & Teacher, Friday morning

Schuyler joined the Preschool in June 2016. She earned her educator license as an undergraduate at Harvard University, and received her master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has worked as a teacher and administrator in a wide range of educational settings, including, most recently, as an Assistant Director of Development at Columbia Business School. Schuyler lives in East Norwalk with her husband and two cats.

Lindsey Hoffman – Head Teacher, After School Program

Lindsey has been an elementary and preschool teacher for 17 years. She currently teaches the 5 day 4’s at Greenfield Hill Church Nursery School where she has been for the past 7 years. Lindsey holds a Masters Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College.

Libby Hibbs – Teacher, After School Program

Libby and Lindsey run our afternoon school program Monday through Thursday afternoons. Libby graduated from Connecticut College and currently teaches at the Greenfield Hill Church Nursery School. She lives in Fairfield with her husband and 4 children.  


Sarah Bonti – Teacher, Tuesday morning, Summer Camp Director

Sarah is a graduate student at Southern Connecticut State University pursuing her Master’s in School Counseling. She has run our summer program for the past 3 summers, worked part time in 2015-2016 and taught on Friday mornings for the 2016-2017 school year. Sarah has a wide variety of experience with children including being a paraprofessional for students with special needs, student teaching throughout college, and interning as a Sunday school teacher at her local church in Westport.
